how to record screen on mac?

Without a doubt, the single most frequently used software in my Mac usage is screen recording. Yes, more often than any other tool. That's because it's such a convenient way to use OS X in a real-time broadcast video format. But also, because it's really easy to do. You need to look no further than QuickTime to get started. What's a screencast?

A screencast is a recording of a desktop, the typical way you see video or screenshots. When you create a screencast, you show the screen on your Mac, record a video of that, then save the file to your hard drive. A screencast can be saved to a folder, or directly on your hard drive as a video file.

First, you need to understand the built-in Mac recording software.

macOS Screen Recording Software

To create a screencast, open the Applications folder on your Mac, and go to the “Video” folder (usually under the “Main” folder).

There, you’ll find a few different recording programs, such as ScreenFlow (previously called Final Cut), MiniVid, and Adobe Premiere Pro. Latest ringtone download

Next, you’ll want to select the appropriate screen recording program (in my case, I used ScreenFlow). There are some good tutorials out there.

Unfortunately, many people make the mistake of assuming you can use the default Screen Flow feature to record a screencast. You can’t!

ScreenFlow is a screen capture tool. That’s it. And it’s not particularly effective at capturing the screen — it takes a screenshot in the process. You might as well use a screenshot program to do that.

If you want to record a screencast, you'll need to open the ScreenFlow screencast, open the application and create a new file. That's all there is to it. Easy as that.

So, if ScreenFlow is so easy, why do so many people bother to use an app like Final Cut or iMovie to do a better job?
